Project Phoenix can automatically transform block mode Gen applications to a WUI client server architecture.  This transformation involves both generating a new user interface and re-engineering the logic to separate the screen’s procedure step into client and server logic with the requisite communication between the two.  If desired, the server logic can be re-structured as services suitable for implementation as EJBs or Web Services. Typically, the automation also has to replace some action diagram statements that are specific to procedure steps with screens.

The automated transformation uses patterns and wizards to apply sophisticated mapping rules and customer specific presentation standards to the layout of the new web interface.  Once mapping rules and standards have been defined, transformations can be run in bulk and therefore take a tiny fraction of the time it would take to make the same changes manually.
